Samsung Galaxy: iPad Killer?

Earlier this year Apple released the iPad, a new piece of technology best described as a tablet computer. The iPad is capable of handling owner's audio, video, movie, and game needs-as well as web content, books and periodicals.

The iPad uses practically the same operating software as the predating iPod touch and iPhone. Apple has sold three million iPad devices in only eighty days. Its popularity is probably explained by the fact that no other company has been able to release a device to compete with the iPad's high levels of functionality and desirability-until now...

Samsung has recently revealed that they have created a similar product to compete with Apple's iPad, the new Samsung Galaxy. The only real differences between the two devices are that the Samsung Galaxy sports a seven inch screen, 2.7 inches smaller than the 9.7 inch screen on Apple's iPad, and the iPad has a slightly longer battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy has been released in time for the holiday season, and consumers already have high expectations for this new device's ability to compete with Apple. This is quite an amazing feat considering Apple has been an electronics juggernaut for a number of years.

The Samsung Galaxy works exactly the same way as the iPad, by using a Wi-Fi hotspot or mobile broadband connection to connect to the internet. However, the Galaxy uses Android operating software, which is fairly newer than the older software used in the iPad. Apple has had so much success marketing their gadgets, like the iPod touch and Apple iPod,

because of their chick looks and thousands of software applications exclusively offered. Software designers have developed the same applications capable of running under the Android software. So, in a way the Samsung has surpassed the iPad, but the success of the Galaxy will no doubt depend on the success Samsung has making their applications work. The gadget applications are really the bread and butter for a piece of technology like this one.

The Samsung Galaxy is the first legitimate competition for Apple's iPad because the Galaxy matches or goes beyond the iPad's capabilities, giving electronic consumers a new piece of equipment with greater functionality.

It will be interesting to see in the coming months just how well the Galaxy does going head-to-head with Apple's iPad, but the Galaxy certainly has everything it needs to effectively compete.
